A Chara

Le druidim briseadh na Cásca, ba mhaith linn roinnt eolais a scaipeadh le pobal na scoile uile.

As Easter approaches, we would like to share some information with the whole school community.

Dúnadh na Scoile

School Closure

Mar is eol duit, d’fhógair an Rialtas go mbeidh scoileanna dúnta go dtí an 19 Aibreán 2020. Táimid réidh agus ag súil le h-oscailt arís ar an 20 Aibréan 2020. É sin ráite, tá gach cosúlacht ann go mbeimid fós sa bhád céanna tar éis na Cásca, ach má thagann aon athrú ar an scéal, beimid i dteagmháil leat.

As you are aware, the Government has announced that schools will remain closed until 19 April 2020. We are ready and looking forward to opening again on the 20 April 2020. That said, it is likely that we may still be closed after Easter, but if there is any change to this, we will contact you immediately.

Scoláirí

Students

Tá sár iarracht á dhéanamh ag gach ball do phobal Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh, idir múinteoirí, SNAs, tuismitheoirí agus ár scoláirí iontacha, ag cinntiú go bhfuil an foghlaim agus an teagasc ag dul ar aghaidh le linn an tréimhse deacair seo. Níl aon dabht ann ach gur thréimhse dúshlánach é seo dúinn ar fad. Níl cianfhoghlaim éasca do gach scoláire. Tuigimid go mbíonn fadhbanna le wifi, fadhbanna teicneolaíochta, fadhbhanna le bainistiú ama, scoláirí gafa le cúraimí tí agus ag tabhairt aire do pháistí níos óige agus a léithéad. É sin ráite, tá níos mó na 90% dos na scoláirí trasna na bliainghrúpaí ar fad ag dul i ngleic go h-an éifeachtach leis an bhfoghlaim ar líne. Táimid an bhródúil as an staitistic sin agus dar ndóigh, as ár scoláirí den scoth atá ag cur an obair isteach, in aineoinn na deacrachtaí thuasluaite. Is am deacair é seo do ghach scoláire ach do scoláirí na hÁrdteistiméarachta agus an Teastas Sóisearach ach go háirithe. Tá Coimisiún na Scrúduithe Stáit ag obair go dian na laethanta seo chun teacht ar réiteach. Tá sé fíor tábhachtach go dtuigeann sibh ar fad go mbeidh sé cothrom do chách, pé rud a thiteann amach.

Every member of the Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh community, teachers, SNAs, parents and our fantastic students, are making an incredible effort to ensure that Learning and Teaching continues during this difficult and challenging time. Remote Learning is not easy for every student and we understand that there can be problems with wifi, technical problems, time management issues or students who have to look after younger siblings. That said, over 90% of students across all year groups are engaged in on-line learning. We are extremely proud of this statistic and of course our exceptional students, who are putting great work despite the aforementioned problems. This is a very difficult time for all students but especially for Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate Students. The State Exams Commision are working on possible solutions but rest assured that whatever happens it will be fair to all of you who have worked so hard up to now.

Tuismitheoirí/Caomhnóirí

Parents/Guardians

Ba mhaith linn ionchur na dtuismitheoirí agus caomhnóirí a aithint ag an bpointe seo chomh maith.  Tuigimid go bhfuil cuid mhaith agaibhse fós ag obair, roinnt agaibh sna seirbhísí sláinte, cuid agaibh ag obair ón mbaileagus ag tabhairt aire do pháistí nó seanghaolta. Níl sé éasca súil a choimeád ar bhur bpáistí ó thaobh obair scoile de ach táimid an-bhuíoch daoibh as bhur tiomantas i leith na cúraimí seo. Go raibh míle maith agaibh as ucht bhur dtacaíocht leanúnach. Déan cinnte de, go dtugann tú aire maithe duit féin.

Parents and Guardians deserve a special mention. We understand that a lot of you are still working, some of you in the health service, some working from home and looking after children and elderly relatives. It is not easy to put structures in place to support your childrens’ learning and really appreciate your unwavering support. Make sure to look after yourself first.

Múinteoirí

Teachers

Ní mór dúinn obair na múinteoirí a aithint le linn an tréimhse deacair seo. Tá an t-ádh linn i nGaelcholáiste Luimnigh leis an bhfoireann den scoth atá againn agus an méid oibre a dhéanann siad lá in aghaidh lae chun riachtanais a gcuid scoláirí a chur chun cinn i gcónaí. Tá sibh tar éis misneach agus spreagadh a thabhairt dom, do Shinéad agus na scoláirí.

Tá múinteoirí ag múineadh tríd meascán de ranganna beo agus físeanna/ceachtanna ar Google Classroom.  Don chuid is mó don am tá múinteoirí ag leanúint amchlár na scoláirí ach ba mhaith linn a chur i gcuimhne daoibh go bhfuil ár múinteoirí ag obair ón mbaile, cuid acu ag tabhairt aire dá bpáistí nó tuismitheoirí freisin. Táimid ag impí oraibh a bheith ag smaoineamh ar seo.

We would like to acknowledge the great work of our teachers during this difficult period. We are incredibly fortunate in Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh to have a fantastic team and the great work that they do on a daily basis to cater for the needs of their students. They continue to encourage and inspire both Sinéad and I and our students. Teachers are trying as much as possible to follow the daily timetable but we would like to remind you that our teachers are working from home, with a number of them looking after their own children or elderly parents. We would ask that you be cognisant of this.

Briseadh na Cásca

Easter Break

Mar a dúramar, táimid an-shásta leis an mbealach atá an obair scoile ag leanúint ar aghaidh le linn an tréimhse seo. In aineoinn na dúshláin, tá obair na gcapall á dhéanamh ag na múinteorií agus scoláirí. Chuige sin, tá sé thar a bheith tábhachtach go dtógann gach duine briseadh dóibh fhéin thar na Cásca. Tá briseadh tuilte ag gach duine anois agus de bharr sin, ó inniu ar aghaidh, Aoine 3 Aibreán, ní bheidh aon obair nua, ranganna beo, ríomhphost nó glaochanna ar siúl. Is am é seo do scoláirí briseadh a thógáil. Tá gach cosúlacht ann go mbeimid fós sa bhád céanna tar éis na Cásca agus má tá, beidh briseadh ceart ag teastáil go géar ó gach aon duine.

As mentioned, we are extremely happy with the way in which learning and teaching continues. Despite the challenges, trojan work is taking place across the entire school community and with this in mind and to ensure that students, parents and teachers take an essential “time out”, we are instructing that there will be no online classes, emails, work, assignments or telephone calls over the 2 weeks of the school’s Easter break for all years, starting from today, Friday April 3rd  up to Sunday April 19th.

Má bhíonn aon fhadhb, ceist nó buairt agat, ná bíodh aon drogall ort ríomhphost a chur chugam (kevin@gcluimnigh.ie) nó chuig Sinéad (sinead@gcluimnigh.ie) am ar bith, le linn na Cásca.

If you have any problems, questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me (kevin@gcluimnigh.ie) or Sinéad (sinead@gcluimnigh.ie), during the Easter break.

Mar fhocal scoir, táimid ar fad ag súil go mbeimid ar ais le chéile, ag forbairt le cheile i nGaelcholáiste Luimnigh sar i bhfad. Tá an scoil ró-chiúin gan Guth an Scoláire a chloisteáil timpeall na hallaí agus amuigh sa chlós ach tuigimid go bhfuil orainn ár bpáirt a ghlacadh sa ghéarchéim seo chun sláinte an phobail a chaomhnú. Beimid ar fad ag súil go mór lenár gcéad lá thar nais in GCL tar éis an paindéim seo.

‘Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na ndaoine’.

Fanaigí slán, fanaigí sábháilte agus ár mbuíochas arís as ucht bhur dtacaíocht.
