Background

Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh has invested considerably in its ICT provision to be a leader in ICT skills attainment & development for our pupils.

A considerable amount of content to pupils is developed and delivered by Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh teachers through iCloud & Google Apps.  Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh staff use iPads & Macbooks to share content with pupils and communicate with them to provide a 24/7 workflow environment.  iPad nurtures creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking in our students – essential skills as we prepare them to live and work in a modern society.

First Years 2017

Pupils will use ebooks at school and refer to the hard-copy texts which they can leave at home to use for homework and study.

  2. The iPad will be delivered to Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh and handed to your child in the first week in September.

All pupils are enabled users on Microsoft Exchange & Google Docs, providing them with a school based email account, calendar, task-manager etc.  Each pupil is capable of emailing any staff member or the Principal and vice-versa.

We have moved from less dependence on textbooks since 2011.
Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh is working closely with Apple to provide teaching resources to our pupils, in Irish, and on their iPads.  This partnership has significant advantages for our learners.

  • Staff have been trained in using iTunes U and iBooks Author and they attend regular CPD on teaching and learning using ICT.

  • Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh have Three Apple Professional Development Consultants (APDs), Two Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) and one Apple Educational Strategic Planning Consultant (ESP) working in the school as teachers.
